More is NOT Better (6)

6. It robs us of our peace.

Psalms 119:165 says, Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Have you ever noticed how many people that claim to be Christian don’t live in peace but rather tend to live discouraged, irritated and upset with their circumstances? Peace is a result of faith in God. God’s law/word/promises bring peace to those with faith in Him because they are 100% accurate 100% of the time. What God says always happens.

However, man’s word/promises will let you down. They always have and you know it. So there is no resulting or lasting peace. This is why those who add to God’s commandments are so often without rest in their souls? If you have a lot of other laws, you find that they don’t always work out and it is frustrating.

Notice the relationship of peace to God’s word in a couple verses:

  • Proverbs 3:1-2 My son, forget not MY law; but let thine heart keep MY commandments: For length of days, and long life, and PEACE, shall they add to thee.
  • John 14:26-27 …the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, …he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I HAVE SAID unto you. PEACE I leave with you, MY PEACE I give unto you…
  • Philippians 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of PEACE shall be with you.

Those that don’t add to God’s word have “great peace.” If you love the word of God you know that everything is going to work out just as your Heavenly Father says it will. So, for the sake of your own sanity, don’t add to the bible.

Until next time,
